Fall Classic Game 7 Attracts 51M Audience Members In the United States, Canadian and Japanese Markets.

The thrilling 11-inning matchup where the Dodgers overcome the Blue Jays 5-4 attracted a total 51 million viewers across the US, Canada, and Japanese markets. MLB announced this is the highest-rated World Series Game 7 after the 1991 edition showdown between the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Details

The Saturday memorable contest secured 27.33 million viewers on Fox channels, its Spanish-language channel and their streaming platforms. According to Nielsen, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the week.

It also is the most-watched World Series game after the 2017 edition Game 7 involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which drew 29.07 million. This represents a 16% increase over the previous Game 7 featuring the Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19M.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game ranked fourth, the fourth game was seventh, the fifth game was 8th, and the third game landed in 13th position.

Global Audience Figures

In Canada, the game averaged 11.6 million watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports. This made it the most-watched English broadcast in Canada after the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final game started at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it drew 12 million. This followed last Friday’s sixth game – in which World Series Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed a single run in six frames – averaged 13.1 million viewers, making it the highest-rated Fall Classic matchup on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Overall Totals and Trends

The full seven-match series drew 15.71 million audience members on the Fox network, a two percent rise from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This represents the first time since 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has recorded audience growth for two straight years.

Including the Game 1 broadcast on Univision, the total American average was 16.1 million. The overall Fall Classic viewership in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1M in Canada.

The complete playoffs on Fox, FS1 and FS2 drew 8.09 million viewers, an 8% rise compared to the previous year and the network’s strongest postseason ratings since the 2017 season.

MLB announced that the Fall Classic was broadcast in 203 nations and regions by 44 media partners in sixteen different languages.
