Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline featuring celestial beings, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in strength within the city.
Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of the new season are included.
The Warrior Group Revealed
The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of characters who will separate from the central cast to embark on their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team features Teor (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).
The Reason for Division
With a large ensemble, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at one table would be unworkable.
That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might appear mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are best suited for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
First, the party knows exactly where to head next after a violent first encounter with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his own means, breaking into the secret base, attacking the character, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.
The antagonist then settled his liabilities and ran away to a secure base in the northern region, beyond the urban center, with Cyd pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each character has a personal reason to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the close ally and best friend, seeks retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure knows Timmony and cautions that it is a nasty environment.
- The strong character and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill Teor and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- However, their reputation as important members in the powerful family could help the party reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, Teor vowed a life debt to The savior for his salvation and will now go with him everywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making staying in the city dangerous:
- Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The cleric betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This results in them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in search of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
According to the recent installment’s post-show segment, we discover that the warrior group won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the participants to form the Seekers and Schemers groups.
Fans can look forward to finding out which characters will be where in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
